A Study on the Development of the Parents Reflection Scale: With a Focus on the Toddler¡¯s Parents
Shin Hyo-Mi

Abstract
This study aimed to develop the toddler`s parent reflection scale. It also sought to verify the validity of the developed index by examining relationships between the developed toddler`s parents reflection scale and self-reflection, and mentalization. The 1st research targets were 357 parents of toddlers (36months or younger) while the 2nd research targets were another 391 parents of toddlers (36months or younger). Frequency analysis, percentage, factor analysis, reliability, and correlation analysis were conducted using the collected data. In the results of the study, it was found that, first, the toddler`s parents comprised three sub-factors such as `understanding of children`, `understanding of parent`s role`, and `behavior recognition`, and 20 questions. Second, regarding the reliability of the toddler`s parent reflection scale, the whole internal consistency coefficient was .86, and the sub-factors were .76-.82. Third, the validity was verified as it showed high correlations with self-reflection and mentalization. This study would serve as useful basic data for research on parent education and parent reflection, by examining the composition factors of toddler`s parent reflection based on Fonagy`s theory and also developing the toddler`s parent reflection scale.
